Here are the current contest entries!

The two photos (photo & back notation) at the left were submitted by Thomas Cowling of Westwood, New Jersey.  After viewing the Hungry Jack Lodge website and finding out about the March 2008 fire he was saddened and sent the photo which was taken in 1973 when our previous main lodge building was under construction.  Here is what Thomas had to say in his submission email:

"I came across this old photo, …….it was taken as the back of the photo shows……Aug 22 1973. I was nine years old at the time, my brother, father and me just came in from a good morning of fishing.

I am 45 years old now and that is still one of my best vacations. When I looked up your website I was sorry to see that fire had destroyed the main lodge….I don’t know if this is the main lodge being built or not…..but I thought you might like it. "

Thank you very much Thomas for the great photo. We're extremely pleased that after 35 years you still consider your 1973 childhood vacation at Hungry Jack Lodge one of the best vacations that you've experienced in your lifetime.

We will be adding this photo to the History page of the Hungry Jack Lodge website too. Again, thank you very much for this historic photo.

Dale & Debbie Larson and Kids of Jordan, MN submitted the two winter/snowmobiling photos shown at the left.  They are planning a return trip to Hungry Jack Lodge during the 2008/2009 winter season and had this to say:

"We are just playing our Christmas trip to Hungry Jack Lodge for 2008 and I wanted to share some photos that we took last year....   We are looking forward to another great year at Hungry Jack Lodge."

The Larson's actually sent 8 great winter and snowmobiling photos, not just the two shown at the left.  But, according to the rules of the Photo Contest only 2 photos could be used.  The decision on which two photos to use was very difficult, but the 2 at the left were finally chosen.

The staff at Hungry Jack Lodge looks forward to seeing you again this coming winter.

Hungry Jack Lodge Photo Contest - Sunrise over Bearskin Lake located along the Gunflint Trail in Grand Marais, Minnesota

The sunrise photo shown at the left was submitted by Aaron Perrault of North Branch, Minnesota.  Aaron's comments about this winter photo are

"This picture was taken on Bearskin Lake on the morning of March 9, 2008.  We had just arrived at our fishing spot and decided to take a minute to get a picture of the beautiful sunrise."

Really nice photo Aaron.  It seems that more people are sending in sunrise photos lately, as opposed to sunsets.  It's a welcome change.  The sunrises on Hungry Jack Lake and many of the other east-west lakes along the Gunflint Trail are superb.

Good luck in the photo contest !

Robin Cornacchio of Minneapolis, MN submitted the photo at the left and had this to say about his submission.

"A group of us stayed at Hungry Jack Lodge for a week June 29- July 5th.  We went to this area to remember a friend that passed away in March of this year.  She loved this area, so we all came up to celebrate her life.

This picture was taken on July 3rd, on the top of Honeymoon Bluff, over looking Hungry Jack Lake."

I'm sure that your friend was looking down upon your group and smiling.  Without a doubt her spirit was there with you and her memory was in your hearts.

Good luck in the photo contest Robin.

The winner of the photo contest which ended on June 15,2006 was Sheryl Del Conte of Wausau, Wisconsin.  Take a look at her photo and other past winning photos on our Photo Contest Winners page.

The current photo contest will end on June 1, 2008.
