Hungry Jack Lodge and Campground
Photo Contest winners

Bruce Carlson of Ypsilanti, Michigan submitted these two photos which were taken in September, 2007.  Here's what Bruce had to say about his photos:

"My fishing partner Glenn and I had just launched our boat on Hungry Jack the morning of Sept 12, 2007 when I shot a picture of this fantastic sunrise over the lake.

Traci Sanborn of Farmington, MN sent in these two photos of the fish that she caught at Hungry Jack Lodge while they were guests in the Hungry Jack Lodge campground in July of 2007.  Traci had this to say about her fish and photos:

"While my fiancé and were staying in the campground during the week of the 4th of July I caught both of the fish in the photos right from the main dock at Hungry Jack Lodge between 7 and 9 in the evening.

The northern actually bit on a tiny smallmouth bass that I had caught and was bringing in to release.  Imagine my surprise when all of a sudden what had started out as a small fish ended up fighting like crazy.  You just can't imagine the thrill that I had.

We enjoyed our stay at Hungry Jack immensely and of course catching the 2 fish in the photos was one of the highlights of our camping trip.  We definitely will be back next year to enjoy not only the great fishing but also the exceptional hospitality shown us by the staff at Hungry Jack Lodge and Campground."

We're glad you had a great time.  I'm sure that because of the way that you caught the northern you'll have memories of of that evening for the rest of your life.

John Synstegaard of Chaska, MN sent in this photo which was taken in August 2006.  Here's what John had to say about his submission

"After Forrest and Jerry got us all set with a boat, lures and good advice; we went for some Rainbow Trout on Leo Lake. My 14 year old twins, Zach and Byron, really hauled in a good catch and were thrilled because this was the first time they had tried for trout. Memories of Hungry Jack Lodge that will last a lifetime! See you next summer."

This photo was taken on July 19th and in the foreground is from the bottom to top: Glen, Shoko, Quiver and Bow Lakes. Further north (or to the right side of the picture is Poplar lake (follow the road which is the gunflint trail).

The smoke in the distance is the Cavity Lake fire smoke plume. Smoke haze in the air was visible all the way to Lake superior and in most valleys and low lying area that morning.

Duren from Gams, Switzerland and was taken in July of 2006.  Here's what the Duren's had to say:

"We had a fantastic time at the resort last month. We will be back again, hopefully in the winter for snowmobiling. Attached are a few pictures for the photo contest. Aerial shots were taken on July 19th during the Cavity Lake fire."
